All right. It's a dirty subject. But what if no one talks about it? More people have problems with their colon than most people realise.

More and more people are suffering from health problems, including pain, constipation and lack of energy which can be related to a dirty bowel.

These problems do not happen by accident. Many of these problems are caused partly or largely by eating and drinking foods and drinks which are not what nature intended we eat and drink.

Wild animals who are living as nature intended do not generally get these problems. You owe it to yourself to LEARN about how you can prevent and even heal these health problems and diseases.

There is no "one way", no "magic bullet". But there are ways that work. The best methods include:

* Improvements in nutrition (what we eat AND drink)

* Cleanses

These are the very things that your doctor won't tell you about – because they never learned them. The average doctor learns around 4-20 hours of nutrition during a FIVE YEAR degree. Their job is to make money by selling drugs and operations. YOUR job is to look after your health and wellbeing.

For example, no one makes any money telling you to drink more water, which is essential for a healthy colon.

In addition to learning about nutrition, many people have had great results from doing different cleanses, of the colon, kidney and liver & gall bladder.

The MOST important cleanse to do is colon cleansing, because if you have a dirty colon with impacted fecal matter, this will create extra toxins which the other organs then have to continually detox.

The Merck Manual, the medical industry's standard text for the diagnosis and treatment of disease, tell us that colon degeneration is increasing at an alarming rate. Here are its figures for diverticulosis for people over 45 years old:

Modern natural healers prefer to talk about nice, clean things like vitamins. These are important, but are often money down the toilet because many people are rotting from the inside out because:

1. They continue to ingest toxic substances, including caffeine, sugar, white flour, aspartame, microwaved food, hydrogenated fats and deep fried foods 2. They don't eat enough good food, or drink enough good water. 3. They have impacted fecal matter in their colon

Some of the methods for colon cleansing don't work any more. This is because our diet is now so far removed from what it should be. Our diet is generally now full of food which has been changed in many ways from what nature intended. Chemicals are added, nutrients and fiber are removed, heating processes change the molecular structure of the food and destroy any life energy.

In addition, we now get hardly any exercise, whereas our forebears used to walk everywhere. Not to mention the great damage that is caused by vaccinations. And then there's the added stress from today's style of living and electromagnetic stress (from computers, mobile phones, cars etc.).

Believe it or not, some healers have had people in their clinic who had only ONE BOWEL MOVEMENT A MONTH!!!

Where did all that food go???? These people had their bowels frozen solid. Their other organs were being squashed by all the extra material down there.

What is needed today for many people is a superior type of colon cleansing.

How often should one have a bowel movement? People in less developed countries living simple, natural lives have two or three bowel movements a day, without straining. They eat, and within fifteen to thirty minutes after their meal they wander off, squat and easily have a bowel movement that is usually unformed and light in colour.

I believe the main cause of constipation in adults as well as in babies and infants is not breastfeeding for long enough (which they do in undeveloped countries). Studies of large primates and mammals by Dr Katherine Dettwyler suggest that we should breastfeed to 2.5 to seven years old old! (See "The Breastfeeding Book" by Dr Sears). Certainly we should breastfeed untill all the teeth have come out, because teeth are an essential part of nutrition.

One reason for this is that breastmilk is super easy to digest, and contains lots of DIGESTIVE ENZYMES. It takes a baby months to learn to walk. How many months must it take for the body to learn to digest different kinds of foods? Breastmilk is meant to support the body through this difficult process, in gentle stages.

One of the real problems of today is that doctors themselves are so unhealthy. Have a listen to the ``Dead doctors don't lie" tape. In it Dr Wallach says that the age of the average age of doctors is only 58 years old!!! Over ten years less than the average person!!!

Doctors don't study health. They study sickness. ``Health insurance" should be called ``sickness insurance", just like we have ``fire insurance" and ``flood insurance". Having health insurance won't make you healthy.

A client of mine in Dallas told me that many of her friends have a bowel movement only once every five days – and do you know what the doctors say when they go to them? They say that that is NORMAL!!! It may be average – but it's not meant to be that way.

More and more people are finding colonics can be of assistance. However, be careful. I went to a colon therapist in Sydney who regularly sends her clients to other clinics to see how NOT to do it. She herself would give a person only 3 treatments. Many colon therapists prefer to give 10 treatments – and I once had a client who had been going every week for years. This is not good. In addition, the colon therapist should remain with you and tap the tummy to help remove matter, not just hook you up to a hose and wander off.

Ultimately, you need to get your bowels working by themselves.

Herbs can do MUCH more than a colonic can. They can not only clean and scrub, but also draw out old fecal matter and toxins, stop bleeding, disinfect, kill and expel parasites, destroy and remove cancer, kill Candida albicans overgrowth (which is a major contributor towards Irritable Bowel Syndrome and Crohns disease), regulate and balance intestinal flora, remove toxic metals (such as lead, mercury, radioactive metals) and strengthen the muscles of the colon to promote normal bowel movements (and therefore heal spastic colon).

INTESTINAL CLEANSE #1 FORMULA

This herbal mixture is cleansing, healing and strengthening to the entire gastro-intestinal system. It stimulates the muscular movement of the colon and over time strengthen the muscles of the large intestine, halts putrefaction and disinfects, soothes and heals the mucous membrane lining of your entire digestive tract.

Making Your Own #1 Formula

When first making this formula, start with equal parts of each herb. As you use it and want to make adjustments, increase or decrease the individual herbs according to the action you are looking for.

Note from Stephanie Relfe: NO ONE should rely on the same herbs all their life. Remember that old peoples' homes have many people who have used laxatives all their life and now can NO LONGER have a bowel movement - they evacuate only by enemas. It is important while taking #1 to keep working on ways to get your digestion working by itself. For example, take #2 to clean out the old stuff. Take extra fiber with your breakfast (psyllium, wheat germ, oat bran, rice bran). Improve your diet. Find a kinesiologist to balance your body's energy and check your ileo-caecal valve etc.

INTESTINAL CLEANSE #2

This cleansing and soothing herbal mixture is to be used periodically in conjunction with Intestinal Formula #1. This formula is a strong purifier and intestinal vacuum. It draws old fecal matter off the walls of your colon and out of any bowel pockets. It will remove poisons, toxins, parasites, heavy metals (such as mercury, lead and radioactive metals). This formula will also remove over 3,000 known drug residues.

Its mucilaginous properties will soften old hardened fecal matter for easy removal. This makes it an excellent remedy for inflammation in the intestines such as Irritable bowel syndrome.

FOOD POISONING

Intestinal Formula #2 may be useful for food poisoning. The bentonite clay, willow charcoal and apple fruit pectin are super-powerful absorbing agents. If you get food poisoning, or feel you ate something bad, the first thing is to vomit it out. The best way to do that is to drink up to 2 quarts of warm water with some lemon or citrus in it. Then put your fingers into your mouth and shove them down and tickle the uvula, the little thing that hangs down at the back of your mouth, and vomit. (If it has been a number of hours since you ate, forget the vomit routine and just take Intestinal Formula #2). Then take 4 heaping teaspoons of Intestinal Formula #2 in about 16 ounces of water.

Making Your Own #2 Formula

Make this formula also using equal parts of each herb. Then increase or decrease each herb depending on the desired action you want, intensified or weakened.

A) MODERATE CLEANSE

Remember, the more you improve your diet by eliminating the harmful substances that caused the problem in the first place and eat more healthy food such as fruit, vegetables, good supplements, and drink water, the more success you will have now and in the long run. For suggestions on what to eat and what not to eat see "Super colon cleanse" further on in this article.

INTESTINAL CLEANSE #1

Start with only one capsule of this formula during or just after dinner. This formula works best when taken with food. The next morning, you should notice an increase in your bowel action and in the amount of fecal matter that you eliminate. The consistency should also be softer. If you do not notice any difference in your bowel behaviour by the next day, or if the difference is not dramatic, then that evening increase your dosage to two capsules.

You can continue to increase your dosage every evening by one capsule until you notice a dramatic difference in the way your bowel works. There is no limit. Most people need 2-3 capsules but a few have needed a lot more.

This formula can be taken for a week, a month or longer. Continue to use this formula until you are having one bowel movement each day for each meal you eat. Between two and four bowel movements a day is normal. (Note from Stephanie Relfe: NO ONE should rely on the same herbs all their life. After one week of taking Formula #1 you should take Formula #2 IN ADDITION to Formula #1 to continue cleaning the colon and help to remove some of the causes for constipation.

NOTE: People whose problem is having too many bowel movements, such as some people with Irritable Bowel Syndrome, should omit Formula #1 and use just Formula #2.

INTESTINAL CLEANSE #2

To be done for at least two weeks.

For breakfast have a Nutritional Power Drink*: 8-16 ounces of freshly squeezed organic carrot, apple and parsley juice (or apple and grape juice) mixed with 4-8 ounces of water and 1-2 heaping tablespoons of Vital Nutrition Plus.

Take one heaped teaspoon of Formula #2 powder in 8 oz. freshly squeezed juice 5 times a day. Take it one hour after your morning nutritional drink , ½ hour before lunch, between lunch and dinner, ½ hour before dinner and 1 hour before bed.

During or after dinner, take your Intestinal Formula #1 as usual.

In addition, drink an additional 8 oz. water after each dose. Do this daily for at least a week.

*If you don't make freshly squeezed juice, it would be much better to take the formula in water or Biotta juices than in most prepackaged juices (as the enzymes are gone in prepackaged juices).

DRINK LOTS OF WATER! At least 8 glasses a day, and more than this while you are on the cleanse. If you get any cleansing reactions such as a headache, continue drinking water.



INTESTINAL CLEANSE #3: FOR CHILDREN -

This is a liquid formula for infant constipation, that has an improved taste (although some children may still not like it). It is a liquid formula, based in fig Concentrate with Cascara Sagrada bark, Senna leaf and pod and the oils of Anise, Clove and Tangerine. You can make it yourself with figs and water, and just the main herbs.

This formula is for children (and even adults) of any age.

B) SUPER COLON CLEANSE

1. Have 2 capsules of iFLORA TM half an hour before breakfast. -

2. The Super Colon Cleanse is most fundamentally a change in diet.

Using Colon Cleanse Formulas #1 and #2 (as above) without heavy juicing, raw fruits and vegetables etc. will likely produce results such as 2-3 bowel movements each day, better energy level, improvements with headaches, female problems, male problems, and numerous other benefits, but the colon will still be largely uncleansed.

The herbs will work as a great laxative, but used along with a polluting food program, the bowel pockets, diverticuli, impacted fecal matter, fungal imbalances and poor tonal condition of the colon will not be greatly improved as they should be. Note that many long term users of laxatives end up with bowels that don't work and have to have constant enemas.

Combine the herbal formulas with the correct diet change and now you will definitely see colon cleansing occurring!

For the Super Colon Cleanse, combine the above recommendations for intake of Formula #1 and Formula #2 with the following changes in diet:

Breakfast - Nutritional Power Drink #1

8-16 ounces of freshly squeezed organic carrot, apple and parsley juice (or apple and grape juices for those who may prefer fruit juices in the morning) mixed with 4-8 ounces of water and 1-2 heaping tablespoons of Vital Nutrition Plus. Powder - Capsules -

The differences in volumes given here depend on one's body size - 140 pounds or less, use the smaller volumes; much over 140 pounds, use the larger volumes. For variations on this recipe, you can change the ratio of carrot juice to apple juice and add bananas, berries and other fruits - 1/2 to 1 cup per batch mixed in a blender. If hunger strikes before lunch, eat fresh, juicy fruit.

Lunch - Nutritional Power Drink #2

10 ounces of carrot juice; 3 ounces of beet and beet greens juice; 2 ounces of a combination of kale, Brussels sprouts, cabbage and cauliflower juice, one ounce of wheatgrass and 2 heaping tablespoons of Vital Nutrition Plus. This makes about 16 ounces of juice, some of which can be preserved in canning jars if too much to drink all at once.

Along with the juice, one should have a large salad.

Up to one tablespoon of an oil with Omega 3 Essential Fatty Acids, such as Udo's Perfected Oil Blend, Flaxseed Oil or Hemp Oil should be sprinkled over the salad or blended in with the Nutritional Power Drink. These are available from health food stores. They must be stored in the fridge. Check the "use by" date, as rancid oil is very bad for you.

Include 1/2 to 1 level teaspoon of Celtic Sea Salt each day for electrolytes and other minerals. This is salt which is usually from France and which is dried BY HAND in the SUN. It will look slightly greyish in colour. Unlike normal table salt (which is bad for you) or even white sea salt, Celtic sea salt is good for you and has over 90 minerals your body needs.

Dinner - 8-16 ounces of Power Nutritional Drink #2

Another large, green, leafy salad with generous amounts of red or yellow onions.

Vary the recipes used from day to day to keep interest up. Don't use store bought salad dressings.

Make your own dressings using extra virgin olive oil and/or cold pressed sesame oil and apple cider vinegar or fresh lemon juice and herbs like mint, cilantro, oregano, basil and parsley.

In addition to the juice and salad, you can prepare baked sweet potato, baked regular potato, cooked rice or other grains, etc. Just be sure the quantity consumed here is not excessive, i.e., not more than 15-25% of the total food eaten for the day.

Do not eat or drink:

* Foods containing white (bread making) flour * Processed foods such as pasta or baked goods * Sugar or food with sugar in it * Significant amounts of meat * Pork * Processed meats * Milk (plain, whole milk yogurt made from organically fed cow's milk is okay) * Peanut butter (this may be continued after the cleanse) * Cheeses (some in moderation after the cleanse is okay) * Eggs (free range eggs may be eaten after the cleanse) * Soy products. * Caffeine (which is in coffee, tea, chocolate, sodas, chuppa-chups). The problem here is that many people need to take 3-6 weeks to come off caffine, to prevent healing reactions such as headaches. Do the best you can for now. * The following oils: Canola, cottonseed, hydrogenated oils, margarine, vegetable oil or any oil that does not say it is cold-pressed (Use virgin olive oil or cold pressed sesame oil) * Butter (it is okay to have this after the cleanse) * Artificial sweeteners especially aspartame (nutrasweet) * Microwaved food (a convection oven is okay) * Normal table salt (sodium chloride). Use Celtic sea salt (Hand harvested, sun-dried sea salt which is GREYISH in colour) * Monosodium Glutamate * Artificial Colourings (eg as in Gatorade) * Seafood that are garbage eaters (eg oysters)

Restrict all cooked food to fresh vegetables and grains. Some nuts and seeds can be eaten but always in small amounts -- 1/3 of a cup or less at a time and not frequently.

The problem with cooked food is that much of its nutritive value is destroyed in the heating process. All enzymes are destroyed, about 83% of the vitamins, plus the heat changes many of the protein structures into a form that is very difficult to assimilate.

When fruit and vegetables juices are consumed, 92% of the nutrients are able to reach the cellular level. This is because the pulp has been removed and very little digestive energy is required. This is also true of Vital Nutrition Plus when consumed with adequate liquid intake.

Juicing with Vital Nutrition Plus is the fastest way to nourish the cells and rebuild the immune system and essential body organs.

3. Exercise- Start where you are and work up. Have at least two 15 minute walks a day. Most people don’t get enough exercise, so if you have any question whether this applies to you, you could probably do more. The purpose here is to greatly increase circulation so that your body can flush out toxins more easily.

4. DRINK LOTS OF WATER! At least 8 glasses a day, and more than this while you are on the cleanse. If you get any cleansing reactions such as a headache, continue drinking water.

The subject of what water to drink is a big one. Tap water is bad because of the flouride and other poisons in the water. Some people believe distilled water is bad because it has had the life energy destroyed in it. We prefer good spring water or water that is filtered by REVERSE OSMOSIS (as this takes out the flouride).

5. Snacks between meals suggestion – Fresh fruit, salads for vegetable/fruit juices with Vital Nutrition Plus mixed in.

PEOPLE WHO SHOULDN'T TAKE THESE FORMULAS

If you have three easy bowel movements a day, have never had a bowel problem and have no family history of one, then you probably don't need Formula #1.

If you have bowels that work too often (eg you have Irritable Bowel Syndrome, Crohns Disease or Colitis) don't take Intestinal Formula #1. GO IMMEDIATELY TO FORMULA #2.



IMPORTANT POINTS FOR EVERYONE

It is essential for everyone to drink at least eight 8 oz glasses of water every day. Dehydration is a major cause of constipation and bowel problems. You don't have to be thirsty to be dehydrated. Water is needed to CLEAN OUT TOXINS.

If you smoke, have an extra glass of water for each cigarette. If you drink coffee or tea, have an extra glass of water for each cup.

HEALING CRISES

People who have been involved with natural health for a long time are very familiar with the term "Healing crisis". These are negative symptoms which may manifest when the body is detoxifying. An example is the headache that many people experience when they give up drinking tea or coffee.

Sometimes things have to get worse before they get better. For example, when you spring clean the house, it looks worse before it looks better. Your body is similar in this respect. When toxins that have been stored in your body a long time start to come out, different symptoms may appear for a while, including headaches, bad skin and tiredness. Be gentle to yourself if this happens. Know that toxins are moving out of your body. Drink extra water. If the same symptoms continue after a few days, you could slow down on the herbs. This will slow down the rate of detoxification. If you are still experiencing negative symptoms after a week, it would be a good idea to see a licensed natural health practitioner. Your local health food store can likely give you information on local people.

Ways to Keep Yourself Healthy and Regular After The Cleanse:


* Eat raw fiber daily (from your health food store)!!!! Here's one recipe: Psyllium husks, linseed mean, rice bran, barley bran, oat bran in ratio    8:4:1:1:1.  Have 1 heaping dessert spoon a day.

* Read SQUAT! DON'T SIT! The natural way to go to the toilet - what it can do for you.

* Drink eight glasses of water every day!
